Reach Out and Read Kansas City builds on the unique relationship between parents and medical providers to develop critical early reading skills in children, beginning at birth.

At University of Kansas Medical Center, Reach Out and Read Kansas City serves the children receiving primary pediatric care in several KU clinics – Department of Pediatrics, Department of Family Medicine, JayDoc, Silver City, the Center for Child Health and Development and Project Eagle.

The more than 28,000 families served annually by Reach Out and Read Kansas City read together more often, and their children enter kindergarten better prepared to succeed, with larger vocabularies, stronger language skills, and a six-month developmental edge over their peers.
